About this property

Indian Pass Fun, Private & Cozy Beach Cottage--The Barnacle

Enjoy your vacation at this fabulous round house in a tree-filled
setting, tastefully decorated, located on the tip of Indian Pass.
Indian Pass is located at the extreme west end of Apalachicola Bay
where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico. This conflux of fresh and
saltwater makes one the most fertile estuarine areas of the world.
While the area was settled by Native Americans for thousands of
years and then again by the early European explorers modern
civilization has conveniently skipped us over.
Long Known as Florida's 'Forgotten Coast' most of the inhabitants
here have fins or feathers. No high rises or motels but miles of
unspoiled beaches, succulent oysters, world class fishing and
spectacular sunsets. Beachcombers are greeted by miles of shells,
fossilized shark teeth and pottery shards from our earliest
inhabitants.
This comfortable two-bedroom, two bath retreat offers lots of
privacy in a natural setting, approx. 150 ft. from the beach. It does not have a view of the beach, but it is on the boardwalk where you will see a beautiful panoramic view of the beach and St. Vincent's. Back at The Barnacle, you have a wrap-around deck with chairs and a very slight view of Indian Lagoon, lots of
wildlife, and great birding. Explore St. Vincent's Island across the
Pass. Bring your kayaks, canoes, fishing poles, binoculars, and camera. Excellent
fishing and crabbing, shelling and long walks on miles of pristine
beach. Private and peaceful.

Relaxing
Very comfortable & relaxing stay, definitely out of the intensity and hustle & bustle of the majority of Florida. Fishing off the beach was very good. Clean & well equipped.

Indian Pass Getaway
If you’re looking for a quiet place to escape, this is it. The Barnacle is charming and unique. Well appointed with everything you might need. We appreciate the fact that we could bring our dog along. We always bring our own blankets to cover furniture but this place also provided coverings as needed. The beach is just a short boardwalk away and we enjoyed lots of walks on the beach as well as viewing some beautiful sunsets. One evening we spotted a heron on the top of one tree and an eagle on the top of the next tree. Definitely plenty of wildlife to be viewed! If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax then check this place out. Also, the hosts were just a text away if anything was needed :-)

Ocean Bliss
The Barnacle is funky in a very good way. Leave behind the stressful part of your life. Come here, walk the beach, collect some shells, cast a line, enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, read that novel, or wrire it, eat some of the best oysters you'll ever get, revel in the unspoiled beauty. Simply relax, unwind and rediscover all that is good about quiet places with not so many people.

Nice
We enjoyed our stay at the Barnacle. The hosts Victor and Janis live on site and shared tons of local info, restaurants and history of Port St Joe. Even though we had some cold weather we still enjoyed our long peaceful walks on the beach with our pup. The barnicle is very comfy and has everything you need for a nice stay. However I must say the pictures and description are deceptive. There is major construction going on next door as a new house is being built. No longer are there trees that you see in the pics. We were woken many days by loud trucks, banging, saws, music playing and beeping from tractor, etc. Fortunately we didn’t have the windows open or it would have been worse. Still quite a bit of construction left to be done too since the inside hasn’t been started yet. Like I said the hosts are super nice but a little heads up about this and the option to cancel our reservation or have been offered a partial refund would have been the right thing to do. The main reason we booked was because of the listing description and reviews, quiet, peaceful, secluded and private.

Hidden Oasis
We spent a week at the Barnacle and it was wonderful. So secluded and so close to the beach. Highly recommend the golf cart- great for going to the beach. House is very well stocked - we cooked most nights. Janis and Victor are wonderful- so easy to get in touch with them and had great recommendations in the area. I forgot some clothes and they were so sweet and mailed them to me. Highly recommend a stay at the Barnacle! Loved it. Carol B.

Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique is the location and its setting. The beach is a short 30 second walk away, up and over our 30' high heavily vegetated sand dune, on our private boardwalk. When you reach the observation platform, you will find four benches on which you can observe the "goings on" at the beach and St. Vincent's, or just relax and read a book. Take the last flight of stairs to the beach, and you can fish, swim, get a sun tan, or collect shells. The wildlife is abundant for birders, photographers, and other outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy seeing these beautiful creatures in their natural environment.

What makes this property unique

The Barnacle was totally re-done at the end of 2019, making it a very pleasant, cozy, and comfortable place to stay. Being that the house is round, with windows on practically every wall, the outside becomes part of the ambiance inside, and it almost feels as though you are living with the birds and squirrels in the trees.
