America’s Great Open Air Paint Out, Kicks Off May 1 in Gulf County
More than 20 nationally acclaimed artists will gather on Florida’s Gulf Coast to participate in the 10th annual Forgotten Coast en Plein Air Invitational, America’s Great Paint-Out, May 1-11, 2015. Painters will set up their easels and pull out their brushes to document the landscape and culture of the Gulf Coast – the coastal stretch of scenic North Florida between Mexico Beach and Alligator Point.
Events will include outdoor artist demonstrations, exhibits, workshops and even nocturne painting. On Saturday, May 2, come see the masters at work during the 2014 Quickdraw – artists can check in starting at 8 a.m., painting begins at 10 a.m., the “put-your-brushes-down” horn sounds at noon and judging immediately follows. We can’t wait to see the masterpieces they create!
Highlights of the week include the Artists’ Choice Collection changed daily at the WindMark Beach Village Center, as well as artist workshops with Nancie King Mertz, Greg LaRock and Ken DeWaard. Come breathe in the fresh air and watch live demonstrations and creations from cityscapes in Port St. Joe to working waterfronts in Apalachicola.
