Forgotten Coast En Plein Air Kicks Off May 1 in Gulf County
More than 20 nationally acclaimed artists will gather on Florida's Gulf Coast to participate in the 9th annual Forgotten Coast en Plein Air Invitational, America's Great Paint-Out, May 1-11, 2014. Painters will set up their easels and pull out their brushes to document the landscape and culture of the Gulf Coast – the coastal stretch of scenic North Florida between Mexico Beach and Alligator Point.
Events will include outdoor artist demonstrations, exhibits, workshops and even nocturne painting. On Saturday, May 3, come see the masters at work during the 2014 Quickdraw – artists check in at 10 a.m., the “put-your-brushes-down” horn sounds at noon and judging immediately follows at 12:30 p.m. We can’t wait to see the masterpieces they create!
Highlights of the week include the Artists’ Choice Exhibit changed daily at the Gulf County Chamber of Commerce building at Port St. Joe Marina, as well as an any-artist workshop led by award-winning painter Tracey Frugoli in downtown Port St. Joe. Come breathe in the fresh air and watch live demonstrations and creations from cityscapes in Port St. Joe to working waterfronts in Apalachicola.
Events kick off on Thursday, May 1 and last through Sunday, May 11, 2014.
