Everyone loves to look for turtles says Debbie, Adventure Guide and Florida Master Naturalist. They are everywhere in the Bay. The “turtle holes” are in the deeper waters because it’s easier for them to escape predators. Once you know where the deep areas are, you can go to those places. On our guided kayak tours, we paddle out to an area where you cannot see the bottom and just sit there. You just have to be still. The turtles will come up for air. And when they do? They are all over. As long as the conditions are calm, you can see turtles year round.
Sometimes we may even spot some in the shallow areas – certain turtles have “their area”. One time a little one just swam right up to me. He was a curious little guy. It was my close encounter with a turtle!
