LOCAL RECOMMENDATIONS. STRAIGHT FROM THE “HORSE’S MOUTH”

Dan and Barb VanTreese are GCFL Adventure Guides and mid-western visitors turned locals for over the past decade. When we talked to them, they ran the full gamut of recommendations from dinner to music and then on to a different kind of entertainment!

“For a small town, our restaurants are great. Pepper’s Mexican is one of our favorites and twice a week, Barb and I love the Sunset Coastal Grill. Sunset is on the water and has great seafood with a constant changing menu. Provisions and several other restaurants in town are also great.

We have more live entertainment than people expect, too. The Thirsty Goat and Haughty Heron and Lookout Lounge all have great entertainment. Of course there’s also the Indian Pass Raw Bar.

Fishing is great here year round and we have a number of great fishing guides. But you know what Barb did recently? She went horseback riding on the beach at sunset. She took our daughter, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. None of them had ever been horseback riding! It was very safe. Only walking. And, they went out from Salinas Park on to the beach. They thought It was so great. They saw dolphins swimming and shrimp boats! Beautiful. We recommend both Two-Bit Stables and Broke a Toe.”

FISHING IS IN OUR BLOOD
Ronald Picket -

“We grew up vacationing here. We camped in Apalach and in 1968 we found St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. Right after that we built a house in Indian Pass. As soon as the house was built, we came down every weekend.”
