St. Joseph Peninsula Beach Renourishment Begins 9/23/19

FISHING IS IN OUR BLOOD

“We grew up vacationing here. We camped in Apalach and in 1968 we found St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. Right after that we built a house in Indian Pass. As soon as the house was built, we came down every weekend. We all loved to fish. One year we drove from PSJ to Alaska. It took us three months. I was 16. And, we fished along the way. It was in our blood. We did it every chance we got.

I still fish but it’s mostly offshore now. In June, we go out for snapper season. My brother and I always book Captain Danny Tankersly and the Lady J. I’ll book him one time and my brother will book him the next. A true boys trip! We take out 8-12 people at a time. It’s so much fun. In my opinion, Danny is the best fisherman in NW Florida because he’s in it for the love of it. He works at it year round. He never wants anyone to have a bad trip.

There are still so many traditions built around fishing here. Surf fishing on the Cape is tremendous. Right at Stump Hole is a great spot. Or, fishing in Indian Pass on the Bay in a boat. St. Joeseph Bay is so clear you can sight fish. Or, you can go up the Intracoastal north of White City and get Flounder, Red Fish and Speckled Trout.”

Adventure Guide Ronald, lifetime angler and owner of Cape San Blas Vacation Rentals, recommends booking a trip with Lady J Charters. Or, just grabbing a rod and reel at Scallop Cove and heading over to the Stump Hole. Whatever you please – he loves it all!

INSIDER TIP: LIVING SPACE = OUTDOOR SPACE
Alyson Gerlach -

“The difference between staying in a house vs. renting a hotel room is that you’re going to cook there and eat there and hangout together. Kitchen and living space is always an important thing to look for. But, I don’t just mean inside the house. Many of our homes have just as much living and gathering space outside as they do inside.”

Indian Pass Lagoon is a treasure says Adventure Guide Trish. A true eco-adventure. You need a flat bottom boat or a kayak because it’s so shallow. You will see all kinds of wildlife around the oyster beds.
