Things to Do: Area Lighthouses
Cape San Blas Lighthouse is less than a 10-minute ride from Port St. Joe, visible on your left as you travel out C-30E on the way to St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park, and is open for climbing on select dates. The Keeper's Quarters Gift Shop, on site, is open Wednesday through Saturday. The Cape San Blas lighthouse marks the westernmost of four lighthouses within a 90-mile mile span along the coast. The oldest, a masonry tower built at St. Mark's in 1842, is located in the St. Mark's National Wildlife Refuge. The newest, the fourth reconstruction of the Cape St. George Light, was completed in 2008 on St. George Island. The graceful red and white skeletal lighthouse at Crooked River in Carrabelle has been recently restored.
